Gobi Desert
Mongolia’s Gobi Desert is one of the world’s largest and is situated in the southern part of the country. This extraordinary landscape seamlessly blends stunning sand dunes with vast plains, rugged cliffs, and gravel expanses.
The Great Gobi Natural Reserve Park dwarfs the nation of Switzerland in size and represents a colossal biome, offering an unparalleled natural experience.
The Gobi Desert is an idyllic location for stargazing, as it boasts nearly 300 days of sunny weather and clear skies each year. Visitors have the option to select from a variety of tourist camps nestled amidst the sand dunes, where they can embark on camel rides and witness the mesmerizing, colorful phenomena of this unique environment.
The Gobi is also home to a diverse array of wildlife, including wild deer, Mazaalai (bear), khulan (Przewalski’s horse), and wild camels, all of which are featured in the World Red Data Book, emphasizing the significance of this region’s ecological diversity.
Khuvsgul Lake
Khuvsgul Lake is a renowned tourist destination in Mongolia, situated within a province of the same name. It proudly holds the title of being Mongolia’s largest freshwater lake. The lake is encircled by the imposing Sayan and Hordil Saridag Mountains, sharing its borders with Russia. This entire region is a pristine expanse of taiga, characterized by expansive forested areas.
For those choosing this enchanting route, we offer a range of experiences. These include boat and small ship tours on the lake, horseback rides along the lake’s shores, and visits to the Tsaatan nomadic people. The Tsaatans are a unique minority group primarily residing in high mountain areas, where they tend to herds of Tsaa deer.
Visitors will find accommodation in one of the many local camps that provide breathtaking views of Lake Khuvsgul.
Mountain Adventures
The prime destinations for mountain enthusiasts in Mongolia are located in the western region. We specialize in organizing high mountain climbs, invigorating hikes, and thrilling traverse treks in the Mongol Altai Mountain range in Bayan-Ulgii, Tsambagarav in Khovd, and Mt. Turgen in the Kharkhiraa mountains of Uvs province.
While these provinces are somewhat remote, they can be reached by plane, and some intrepid mountaineers and travelers opt for a multi-modal approach, flying in on one leg and returning via jeep, allowing for a two- to three-day immersion in nature’s splendors.
For those who prefer to stay closer to the earth, exploring the foothills of lesser peaks can be equally rewarding. Our company assists mountaineers, hikers, and trekkers not only with the expertise of professional guides but also by providing essential mountain gear, including tents, kitchen equipment, sleeping bags, and other necessary accessories.
Mountain expeditions vary in duration, typically spanning 10 to 15 days and taking place from early May to late August, ensuring an unforgettable adventure in Mongolia’s rugged landscapes.
